When MyReviewsNow looked at Target’s webpage that featured appliances for college freshman, the word that came to mind was ‘cute.’ However, the stuff might be cute, but it’s also useful, well made, and available through online shopping. They’re the right sizes for a small dorm room that inevitably will have to be shared with a roommate or two. Better yet, the price of most of the items will not traumatize the parents too much.
Toasters MyReviewsNow saw that Target offered a Proctor Silex 800 Watt toaster oven that’s great for cooking up midnight snacks in a hurry. The cooking rack is adjustable and comes with a baking pan. It also has a timer for the distracted student, and shuts off if it gets too hot, for the very distracted student. This toaster, which costs $17.59, isn’t found in stores but is available via online shopping. More conventional toasters include the two-slice toaster from Sunbeam. It has wide slots in case the student wants to toast a bagel or a section of baguette, and the toaster even has a bagel button. A very interesting thing about this toaster, besides the agreeable $14.99 price, is the colors it can come in: pink, teal and black. Another toaster by Kalorik is white with red detailing, and two more toasters from Proctor Silex come in basic black. The more expensive toaster, at $26.29, has a toast boost and has more of an air-streamed vibe than the less expensive one, which goes for $17.99. Coffee makers Coffee is a must for all nighters, and Target offers a myriad of coffee makers. The Sunbeam programmable coffee maker comes in turquoise, white and black. For some reason the white version is considerably more expensive than the others. It sells for $34.09 compared to the others’ $17.99. This coffee maker has digital readouts and a twelve cup capacity, and can be found in the store as well. Another Proctor Silex 12 cup coffee maker comes in a sporty fire engine red, is made of plastic, and goes for $19.99. Like many of the products, it’s available through online shopping but not in the stores. It also comes in a sleek black version. Coffee makers from Kalorik have an eight cup capacity, and come in basic white with attractive yellow, tangerine or lime green trim. Perhaps because of the aesthetics, these coffee makers are more expensive than most of the others, at $29.99. Blenders Blenders are musts for smoothies and milkshakes, which, of course, are the only drinks a college student will use a blender to make. Hamilton Beach offers a perfect single serve blender for $12.00, while Sunbeam offers a 350 watt, 6 speed blender for $17.99, reduced from $24.99. The base comes in pink, turquoise and black and it has six speeds. The jar is plastic but can be put in a dishwasher. The Kalorik also offers a ‘personal blender” for $29.99, and like Kalorik’s other offerings it’s bright white with red trim. It also has blades tough enough to crush ice. Another version comes with tangerine trim. Irons MyReviewsNow must say something about the irons, which the student will have cause to use whether they believe this or not. Sunbeam makes a 1200 watt, self cleaning steam iron that comes in its own carrying case and is accessorized with a water pitcher. At 10 and a half inches tall, 4.75 inches wide and 5 and a half inches deep, it’s perfect for a small load of laundry. It also comes in teal, white and black, with the teal version being $17.99 and the others being $17.09. Others Other items available for the new college student include the George Foreman Champ Grill for $15.00; his waffle maker, which is also $15.00; the $17.99 Sunbeam BTC Air Popper to quell those sudden cravings for popcorn; and the Sunbeam Electric kettle for $17.99. All of these items come in different, playful colors. Visit MyReviewsNow Online Shopping And View Our Offerings For College Students. Visit Our Online Department Stores Today!
